Ideation 1

Title

Sensorial Design for Four Seasons in Installation Art

Background

A season is a division of the year, marked by changes in weather, ecology, and hours of daylight.
Seasons result from the yearly revolution of the Earth around the Sun and the title of the Earth's axis relative to the plane of revolution. In temperate and Polar Regions, the seasons are marked by changes in the intensity of sunlight that reaches the Earth's surface, variations of which may cause animals to go into hibernation or to migrate, and plants to be dormant.
During May, June and July, the northern hemisphere is exposed to more direct sunlight because the hemisphere faces the sun. The same is true of the southern hemisphere in November, December and January. It is the tilt of the Earth that causes the Sun to be higher in the sky during the summer months, which increases the solar flux. However, due to seasonal lag, June, July and August are the hottest months in the northern hemisphere and December, January and February are the hottest months in the southern hemisphere.
In temperate and sub polar regions generally four calendar based seasons are recognized: spring (adj. vernal), summer (adj. festival), autumn (adj. autumnal), and winter (adj. hibernal). However, ecologists in Europe and Australia are increasingly using a six season model for temperate climate regions that includes pre-spring (adj. preverbal) and late summer (adj. Seri tonal) as distinct seasons along with the traditional four (See Ecological Seasons below).
In some tropical and subtropical regions it is more common to speak of the rainy (or wet, or monsoon) season versus the dry season, because the amount of precipitation may vary more dramatically than the average temperature. For example, in Nicaragua, the dry season is called Summer (Oct to May) and the rainy season is called Winter (Apr to Nov) even though it is located in the northern hemisphere.
In other tropical areas a three-way division into hot, rainy and cool season is used.
In some parts of the world, special "seasons" are loosely defined based upon important events such as a hurricane season, tornado season or a wildfire season.
Chinese seasons are traditionally based on 24 periods known as solar terms, and begin at the midpoint of solstices and equinoxes.

Problem Identification

Earth has two important movements. The first is the rotation of the Earth around an invisible axis. It takes the Earth about 24 hours to finish one complete rotation. This motion is responsible for days and nights. The second important movement that affects the Earth is its revolution around the Sun. One revolution takes 365 ¼ days, or one year. The third movement is related with Earth’s axis. Earth's rotation axis is not fixed in space; its direction executes a slow precession with a period of 26,000 years.
The problem is, people don’t know about how and when exactly seasons are changing and they have no idea what exactly happened during season changing.

Aim & Objectives
  • To let the public know about the fact of four seasons and what happening in each season.
  • To support the nature and shoe how life is changing in calendar in every season.
  • To let public experience sensorial design for four seasons.
Motivation

As a user when trying to touch every season is showing the life is changing with colors and the life going through forward with the time and calendar, and also the user can experience smells of each season.
There is a screen divide by four and each of part present about each season as we have four season on the screen and the user experience from the first season which is spring and going through to the last season which is winter and also the user can experience smells of each season with visuals and they can see how in a year and on a month the season will change and going through the next season. I will put the visuals mixing with sounds effects relate to every season, So it helps public to experience all season and feel how the seasons changing and what is happening in each season specially in Malaysia that have only one season and let public to experience all about four season.
Time doesn't always heal: it just breathes and swallows memories like the seasons change - sending showers; beating flowers into the mud. And nothing is forever in this place. Nothing but the way my heart fits in your hands; the held breath of hope;

Ideation or concept (updates)

Changing seasons are a very important matter in human’s life and with create that showing the seasons are changing for every 3 months which are, spring from spring begins on 1 March, summer on 1 June, autumn on 1 September, and winter on 1 December. Since every first of these 4 months seasons will change, everyone might have the change to know more about the seasons and its presents how the cycle of life is changing when the seasons will change.

Experience all seasons in 5 minutes will have 4 hot spots / interactive spots / sliders which the visitors use. Each of these hold one dataset related to seasons change. So if you touch / move the slider, the work activates in front of you and you can choose a certain month from the time range of that dataset. For example, the spring will come on 1st of March mean showing how the planet growing and the blooms growing from trees. Moving that slider right or left will then give you different season.
Review, Analysis and Precedent Studies

All season are changing every 3 months, which are, spring from spring begins on 1 March, summer on 1 June, autumn on 1 September, and winter on 1 December and its present the beauty of each season on the floor and visitors can experience each season by their own.
